Fresno is rolling out improvements to its online permitting system, aiming to shorten the wait for homeowners and small contractors seeking approvals. The upgraded portal is designed to let applicants track their status, upload documents, and pay fees without repeat trips to city offices.
Builders have long cited permit delays as a drag on projects large and small. City staff say clearer online steps and automatic status updates should reduce back-and-forth and free up counter staff for complex cases.
Officials acknowledged that any new system takes time to settle in, and they encouraged residents to report glitches. A help line and in-person support will remain available for those who prefer them.
