With summer temperatures climbing into dangerous territory, Fresno public-safety officials have issued new guidance urging residents to take heat seriously. Extended heat waves strain both people and emergency services.
Recommendations include limiting strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, staying hydrated, and never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles. Officials also asked residents to check on elderly neighbors and outdoor workers.
Emergency crews say heat-related calls rise sharply during the worst stretches. Knowing the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, they said, can save lives.
